Key responsibilities

  • Cultivate and maintain strong relationships with journalists, reporters, editors, and other media professionals.
  • Proactively pitch story ideas and press releases to media outlets to generate positive media coverage.
  • Respond to media inquiries promptly and manage crisis communications, if necessary.
  • Content Creation – Editorial and Social Media
  • Develop compelling press releases, articles, and other written materials for media distribution.
  • Craft persuasive and engaging content for various platforms, including social media, websites, and newsletters.
  • Edit and proofread content to ensure accuracy and consistency in messaging.

 

Reporting:

  • Monitor and analyse media coverage and public opinion to assess the organisation’s or client’s public image.
  • Develop strategies to address and counter any negative publicity or misconceptions.
  • Proactively identify potential PR issues and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of PR campaigns and initiatives.
  • Provide regular reports on key PR metrics, such as media coverage, social media engagement, and brand sentiment.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public relations. Communications, Journalism, Marketing or related fields.
  • Proven work experience in public relations including internships, preferably within a relevant industry or agency setting.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and relationship-building abilities.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Familiarity with media outreach tools and techniques.
  • Proficiency in using social media platforms for PR purposes.
  • Creative thinking and problem-solving skills.
  • High level of professionalism and integrity.
