Head of Critical Facilities

Our client is a prominent provider of hybrid, hyperscale, and edge solutions across Pan Asia, with assets in Hong Kong, Singapore, Guangzhou, Nanjing, and Indonesia, and expanding presence in Southeast Asia. Their hybrid ecosystem offers colocation, enterprise services, private cloud services, disaster recovery services, and interconnect solutions, connecting cloud service providers, telecom companies, internet exchanges, and major data centers. They drive digital transformations and sustainability, delivering mission-critical infrastructure for enterprise IT workloads.

 

They seek a highly skilled professional to oversee the critical physical infrastructure of their data centers in Taiwan and Jakarta, ensuring high availability and performance. This role would be reporting to the Global Head of Operations and would lead the firm’s Critical Facilities teams, managing all data centers in the APAC region safely, efficiently, and cost-effectively. This role is pivotal in ensuring customer SLAs are met, advancing platform priorities, and increasing revenue and margin through the effective use of company resources. This position requires a strong focus on meeting customer SLAs, driving platform advancements, and optimizing revenue and margins through strategic resource application.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading fiscal management, including facility budgeting and financial due diligence, across all headcounts, capital, and expense activities within the organization.
  • Assessing data to improve processes and operational efficiencies.
  • Facilitating effective communication and coordination with both external and internal customers.
  • Managing teams of engineers and technicians working 24/7.
  • Supervising the operation and management of routine and emergency services on various critical systems, such as switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution equipment, chillers, cooling towers, computer room air handlers, and building monitoring systems.
  • Leading improvement projects from conception to completion, coordinating with internal and external support teams.
  • Acting as an escalation point for data center facility issues and failures, including responding to out-of-hours emergency calls.
  • Overseeing overall site capacity management.
  • Additional duties involve collaborating with the leadership team to standardize operations across the site, planning and executing PUE optimization programs to enhance efficiency, and participating in the design team for new facilities and infrastructure.
  • Handling incident management, driving root cause analysis, and ensuring adherence to all safety procedures during work activities.
  • This position requires maintaining high quality in all site operations without impacting internal or external customers and upholding service level agreements.

Role requirements

  • Over 10 years of experience directly managing one or multiple data centers.
  • An engineering background with a focus on MEP systems.
  • Expertise in managing the full life cycle of data center assets, including working with engineering teams to replace or refurbish old assets in a live data center environment.
  • An executive mindset and high emotional intelligence, capable of collaborating with a diverse range of individuals, from data center technicians to C-level customers.
  • A big-picture thinker with a growth mindset, committed to innovation and avoiding obsolescence.
  • Exceptional energy and positivity, with a proven ability to recruit, motivate, and build high-performing teams.
  • Fluency in English, Mandarin Chinese or Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Experience with automation, IoT deployment, or smart data center integration is a plus.
