Senior Group Manager – Digital Platform

Our client is a leading European aerospace corporation. They’re renowned for their commercial aircraft and defense and satellite systems. The company is seeking a Senior Group Manager who will be part of the Digital Platforms Group and will oversee daily operations of the digital teams within the GIC in Bangalore, India. The role requires a passionate IT leader with experience in software development, operations management, and people management. Having hands-on experience in software development and strong international collaboration experience with global teams will stand out. The candidate will establish team goals by aligning with business strategies and technical trends, ensuring team performance through effective communication, planning, monitoring, coaching, and leadership.

Key responsibilities

  • Leading the team to achieve success and align with goals, aligning business needs with technical and resource constraints.
  • Defining product strategy and designing the service roadmap, overseeing product roadmap and delivery.
  • Translating product vision into a prioritized backlog with stakeholders.
  • Advocating for end users to ensure the product meets their needs.
  • Defining and executing go-to-market strategies for products and services.
  • Meeting operational service levels defined with the business.
  • Making business and technical governance decisions.
  • Managing daily operations and driving continuous process improvement, implementing performance management, training, and development processes.
  • Providing performance feedback, recognition, and disciplinary action as needed, mentoring and coaching the team in line with organizational policies.
  • Fostering a workplace culture aligned with organizational goals.
  • Managing work schedules, job rotation, and vacations for the team, maintaining transparent communication with the team.
  • Making business decisions following organizational policies, managing overall budget and drive development programs.
  • Designing, integrating, and managing IT solutions in the engineering domain, supporting DevOps CI / CD pipeline, SDLC, and supplier enablement.
  • Understanding and transitioning new applications and projects to operations.
  • Providing solutions and design direction for complex issues.
  • Recognizing the role of Information Management in meeting business objectives.
  • Conducting operations review meetings and manage escalations.
  • Acting as a cultural bridge between Europe and India, managing global communications and stakeholder alignment.
  • Maintaining agreed SLA / OLAs and coordinate global partners and working groups.
  • Developing and maintaining detailed project plans.
  • Demonstrating a strong passion for technology and solving customer problems.

Role requirements

  • Graduate / post-graduate with 15+ years in software development, product management, and IT operations.
  • Expertise in leadership and project management, proficiency in service-delivery and driving improvement processes.
  • Must have effectively managed a team of more than 50, including manager(s).
  • Skill in setting up and managing operations teams (Service Design, Transition, Operation, CSI).
  • Experience in business and affairs management.
  • Capability of engaging and motivating teams.
  • Proven track record in building new teams and defining project / product roadmaps.
  • Strong service delivery management skills.
  • Proficiency in software / tool development, understanding SDLC and DevOps pipelines.
  • Ability to switch domains and possess multi-skill experience.
  • Excellent professional networking skills.
  • Openness to travel to Europe for short and long-term assignments.
  • Ability to understand and deliver new business and customer requirements in the digital domain.

 

Good to Have:

  • Knowledge of aerospace, especially in communication, facilities, site security, and IT supplier management.
  • Familiarity with Agile / SAFe principles and managing engineering / PLM applications and services teams.
  • ITIL and PMP certifications.
  • Awareness of quality management systems.
  • Master’s degree or certification in digital domain topics.
