Alfresco Platform Owner (Enterprise Content Management Technical Leadership Role)

Our client is Zurich headquartered global leader in reinsurance, insurance, and risk transfer which helps companies manage complex risks across industries. With presence in over 30 countries, they operate through key segments including property & casualty, life & health reinsurance, and corporate solutions. They are looking for a leader for their Document and Records Management (DRM) Platform team. The Alfresco Platform Owner oversees the organization-wide Alfresco Records Management Platform, managing physical records and exploring the potential expansion into electronic records. This role follows a DevSecOps approach, prioritizing platform stability, security, and continuous innovation while mentoring a small engineering team. In collaboration with the Product Owner and cross-functional teams, the Platform Owner defines the platform’s technical roadmap, integrates best practices throughout the development lifecycle, and ensures alignment with business objectives, regulatory standards, and records management policies.

Key responsibilities

Platform Ownership

  • Define and manage the technical vision and long-term strategy for the Alfresco platform, aligning it with department architecture and evolving enterprise needs for both physical and electronic records management.
  • Oversee the entire platform development lifecycle—from design to deployment—following DevSecOps principles, ensuring continuous integration, improvement, and embedded security to maintain compliance with regulatory standards.
  • Apply knowledge of Documentum to inform enterprise content management strategies, support integrations, and explore platform transitions or hybrid architectures.

 

Security & Compliance

  • Embed robust security controls throughout the platform lifecycle, ensuring compliance with internal policies and relevant industry standards.
  • Perform regular security assessments, including penetration tests and vulnerability scans, to proactively identify and address risks.
  • Collaborate with enterprise security, legal, compliance, and governance teams to enforce security protocols, data protection measures, and access controls in alignment with regulatory requirements, such as data retention policies and legal holds.
  • Maintain comprehensive documentation and audit trails for system configurations, processes, and changes to ensure readiness for internal and external audits.

 

Platform Scalability & Performance

  • Design strategies to ensure scalability, reliability, and high performance, leveraging cloud infrastructure (Azure) and containerization (Kubernetes).
  • Future-proof the platform to handle growing volumes of electronic records, with infrastructure and monitoring to ensure uptime and resilience.
  • Implement automated testing, deployment pipelines, and monitoring systems to enable rapid updates without compromising stability.
  • Use logging, monitoring, and alerting tools to proactively detect and resolve performance and security issues.

 

Collaboration & Team Leadership

  • Collaborate with IT, infrastructure, security, governance, and records management teams to align platform capabilities with enterprise needs, security, and compliance standards.
  • Work with third-party vendors to ensure their tools and services integrate securely and effectively with the Alfresco platform.
  • Lead and mentor a small engineering team, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of continuous improvement and security-first development in line with DevSecOps principles.
  • Coordinate with the Documentum team to develop seamless migration or co-existence strategies between platforms.

Role requirements

Technical Skills & Expertise

  • Strong proficiency in Java, Spring, and Alfresco Content Services (ACS), with knowledge of Alfresco Process Services (APS) and Alfresco Governing Services (AGS).
  • In-depth understanding of DevSecOps practices, including CI/CD pipelines, Infrastructure as Code (IaC), and security automation.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure), containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and monitoring tools.
  • Solid grasp of security best practices, such as encryption, access controls, and vulnerability management.
  • Expertise in REST APIs, microservices architecture, and enterprise-level system integrations.

 

Leadership & Problem-Solving Abilities

  • Proven leadership and team-building skills, with experience managing engineering teams and platform operations.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a proactive mindset towards system design and operational challenges.
  • Excellent communication skills, capable of explaining technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders, including business leaders.

 

Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
  • 8+ years of software development experience, with at least 5 years focused on enterprise content management (preferably Alfresco) or similar platforms.
  • Demonstrated experience implementing DevSecOps practices in large-scale enterprise environments.
  • Familiarity with Documentum is a plus, as the role may involve multi-platform strategies.

 

Preferred Qualifications

  • Alfresco certifications, such as Alfresco Certified System Administrator, ACSCE, APSCE, or AGSCA.
  • Experience in regulated industries (e.g., insurance, finance, healthcare, or government) where security and compliance are critical.
