Head of Legal, Corporate Bank – New Headcount

Our client is a mid-sized Asian Bank (non-PRC) with a strong presence in the APAC region. As a part of expansion efforts, they now have a newly created headcount for a Head of Legal, Singapore to join their Legal & Compliance team based in Singapore. The candidate will report to the Group General Counsel based in the Head Office.

Key responsibilities

Provide legal advice on banking and finance regulations, and transactional matters for Singapore
Draft, review, and negotiate various banking agreements, including loan agreements, and other general commercial agreements, focusing on Corporate Banking and Wealth Management sector
Identify potential legal risks and provide strategic guidance to mitigate them in relation to banking operations and product offerings.
Work closely with cross-functional teams, including compliance, risk management, and business development, to support the bank’s strategic initiatives.
Stay updated on changes in banking and finance laws, regulations, and industry trends; provide insights and recommendations to senior management.
Liaise with external counsels as required.

Role requirements

A relevant degree in Law and 5-8 PQE from Singapore/commonwealth jurisdiction
Banking and Finance lawyer from both in-house and/or reputable law firm is considered
Experience in knowledgeable in corporate banking and wealth management business
Proficiency in English and Chinese is a must
