Key responsibilities
Individual Proposal Review
- The candidate will evaluate business proposals received from global business and country teams, understand the proposed business model and limits rationale, perform necessary due-diligence, evaluate credit reports from independent agencies (BVD, Moody’s, etc.), carry out independent financial analysis and recommend the appropriate limits and mitigation measures that can be put in to his/her superior(s).
Risk & Budgeting Exercise
- Preparing risk advisories from time to time which will be circulated across the organization to sensitize trading team on various risk issues. Review the annual budgeting exercise where the Central Risk Team reviews and approves limits for Olam Agri’s various profit centers.
Market Research
- Understand the latest economic, political and market events to appropriately calibrate review decisions in response to externalities.Timely analysis and circulation of weekly / monthly credit & counterparty risk dashboards for specific products assigned is very crucial.
- Trade Operations
Have an understanding of how the trade operations/middle to back-office function is setup. Understand what is a letter of credit, shipping documents ( B/L ), certificate of Origin, Bill of exchange, Letter of Undertaking
- IT Skills
Have participated in IT projects such as change & transformation related projects, is proficient with Excel and some Power BI experience(good to have)
Internal Stakeholder Engagement
- The role requires the candidate to work closely with other departments such as Legal, IT, Finance and Compliance for effective execution of the role. Present the Enterprise Risk Scorecard, Risk Dashboards, Risk Appetite Framework, etc. To engage closely with Country Teams which have profit centers that require regular review due to high concentration of risk.
Role requirements
- Good people management skills and should be able to lead a team
- Great team player with good written and verbal communication skills
- Should be able to communicate and interface with all levels of the organization and external agencies / contacts including statutory bodies
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple activities concurrently
- At Least 5 -10+ years relevant experience in risk and/or finance control related fields
- Possess strong analytical skills and proven knowledge in commodities products and markets
