Our client, a well- established global investment firm with a focus on commodities is looking to expand their business within the Asia Pacific region. The company is looking for a VP – Operations Risk Manager base in Singapore to join them. This role is pivotal in ensuring the integrity of the company’s operations and establishing standards. This role will report to the Head of Operations Risk.

Key responsibilities

Risk representative for Operational Risk in the region, point person for all Operational Risk matters in APAC.
Act as the primary operational risk advisor to the firm’s trading desks and aligned support teams. Candidates with global markets Line 1 to 1.5 experience are welcome to apply.
Evaluate and enhance end-to-end controls across the trading lifecycle, including front office, operations, and technology.
Provide insight on new products, business initiatives, and infrastructure changes, ensuring risks are identified and managed effectively.
Lead and support the investigation of operational incidents, conducting root cause analysis and driving remediation.
Collaborate with global colleagues to promote a strong risk culture and continuous improvement mindset.
Facilitate control testing, process reviews, and scenario analysis to assess control effectiveness.
Engage regularly with senior stakeholders across business, risk, and compliance functions to influence decisions and escalate emerging issues.

Role requirements

Have over 8 years of experience in operational or non-financial risk management within investment banking or trading environments and have covered FX, Commodities, Fixed Income etc.
Proven understanding of trading operations, control frameworks, and regulatory expectations.
Prior experience in roles related to trading, compliance, or surveillance is highly valued.
Strong analytical thinking with the ability to balance commercial considerations and risk management.
Effective communication and stakeholder management skills, with a demonstrated ability to influence and challenge senior stakeholders.
Resilience, adaptability, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and continuous improvement.
