VP Risk and Compliance

Our client is one of the global banking firms which is building a Global Capability Centre in Chennai to support its global banking operations. We are seeking a seasoned candidate to join their Risk & Compliance Operations team. This is a critical leadership role in setting up and scaling centralized risk and compliance operations, ensuring consistent, high-quality delivery across regions while meeting global regulatory expectations.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and scale centralized Risk & Compliance operations within the GCC, supporting multiple businesses and geographies with clear service models, SLAs, and governance.
  • Lead end-to-end service delivery across operational risk, compliance monitoring, AML/KYC, financial crime operations, regulatory reporting support, and control assurance.
  • Drive standardization and continuous improvement, ensuring consistent controls while addressing local regulatory requirements.
  • Own service delivery governance, including KPIs, issue management, root cause analysis, remediation tracking, and stakeholder reporting.
  • Enable transformation through technology and automation, partnering with IT and digital teams to improve efficiency, accuracy, and control effectiveness.

Role requirements

  • 15+ years of experience in Risk & Compliance, with significant leadership exposure in a Financial Services GCC or shared services environment.
  • Strong understanding of global risk and compliance frameworks, including operational risk, AML/KYC, regulatory controls, and audit readiness.
  • Proven ability to build and lead large, multi-regional teams, delivering against SLAs and managing senior stakeholders.
  • Experience driving change and transformation, including process transitions, automation, and service optimization.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the confidence to operate at senior leadership and board-facing levels.
