Head of Accounting

A leading international group in the energy and infrastructure space and the largest and fastest-growing core business within its wider group, is looking for a senior Financial Accounting & Reporting leader to take on a regional role covering Asia.

Reporting directly to the Regional Finance Lead and working closely with the CFO, this person will oversee accounting across Asia and international entities, with regular interaction with counterparts across the US and Europe, as well as European auditors.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead a regional reporting team of approximately 15 people across Singapore and Malaysia
  • Oversee a broad accounting scope including AP, GL, AR, revenue recognition, project costing, and project accounting
  • Manage accounting exposure across Asset Co, EPC, POC accounting, post-EPC chartering, and IFRS 16 / finance lease accounting
  • Support Corporate Finance on bids and tenders, tax matters, project structuring, and other corporate initiatives
  • Provide accounting support for projects through to completion, including preparation for bond listings (the group currently has two bonds listed in the Netherlands)
  • Own audit management, including coordination with European entities and liaison with European auditors
  • Track regulatory and accounting standard changes, assess impact, and update policies accordingly
  • Drive simplification, standardisation, and digitalisation/automation of FA&R processes, including ERP alignment
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a young, high-growth regional team (Malaysia team is generally 30 years old and under), building a strong performance culture

Role requirements

  • 12+ years in Financial Accounting & Reporting, ideally within a multinational or Big 4 background
  • Strong experience leading financial reporting teams across multiple entities/geographies
  • Strong technical grounding in IFRS and local GAAP, especially in IFRS 16
  • Experience across AP, GL, AR, revenue recognition, project accounting, and project costing
  • Experience with project-based businesses ,EPC, AssetCo, chartering, leasing, or infrastructure is highly relevant; sector exposure involving vessels or offshore assets is advantageous
  • Ability to manage accounting for international entities and work with stakeholders across Asia, Europe, and the US
  • Strong audit management experience, including with international/European auditors
  • Exposure to M&A, financing, corporate actions, bids & tenders, and new project structuring is valuable
  • Professional qualification such as ACA, ACCA, or equivalent
  • Strong people leadership, stakeholder management, and communication skills
