VP – OTC Settlements

A senior, Vice President-level opportunity within the Operations function of a leading global financial services group, seeking an experienced derivatives settlements leader to own Global OTC Derivatives Settlements across AEJ, EMEA and US entities. The role offers significant visibility, with close partnership across Front Office, Middle Office, Technology and vendor partners.

Key responsibilities

  • Managing Global OTC Derivatives Settlements operations across AEJ, EMEA and US.
  • Working with Front Office, Middle Office, Technology, Reference Data Management and vendor partners to ensure smooth delivery and timely resolution of settlement issues.
  • Overseeing OTC Settlements applications and ensuring alignment with market initiatives and regulatory requirements.
  • Managing bespoke and non-standard settlement processes, including manual SSI management and client-specific protocols.
  • Driving automation, robotics and system enhancements to reduce manual intervention and operational risk.
  • Setting the strategic direction for the OTC Settlements team and ensuring consistent service and control standards globally.
  • Conducting root cause analysis and implementing preventive controls for settlement incidents.
  • Managing capacity planning, headcount and resource allocation to support volume growth and service levels.
  • Leading KRI monitoring and break reduction initiatives, translating data into key business metrics.

Role requirements

  • 15+ years of relevant experience in Derivative Settlements, covering Fixed Income and Equity Derivatives.
  • Strong client and employee focus, with high ethical standards and a robust control mindset.
  • Demonstrated executive presence across clients, desks, Middle Office, Technology, Audit and Regulators.
  • Hands-on experience across the derivatives trade lifecycle, including confirmation, settlement instructions, SSI validation, fails management and reconciliation.
  • Strong product knowledge across Fixed Income Derivatives (IRS, CCS, Swaptions, Caps/Floors) and Equity Derivatives (TRS, Swaps, Options).
  • Experience across multiple asset classes, including OTC Derivatives, FX and Listed products, within Investment Banking Operations.
  • Flexibility to work EMEA/US shift patterns for global coverage.
  • Exposure to Alteryx, Power BI, Robotics (RPA), Machine Learning, AI or Agentic AI frameworks would be advantageous.
  • Graduate / MBA qualification.
