Continuing on from Sam Belcher’s – 5 Trends in the Financial industry – The Edge thought it would be good to share the trends in other specialisations. My expertise lies in Sales and Marketing roles for the Financial Services industry – covering FinTech, Banking and Funds Services.
Here are the top 5 Trends in 2019 for Sales and Marketing in Singapore:
Continuous Growth in FinTech – This year we have seen an exponential growth primarily in the FinTech world with the continuous rise of e-payments. This year’s Singapore FinTech Festival saw 60,000 people attend the biggest fintech event in our region. From the rise of payments, remittance and lending companies – hiring has been rife with an increasing number of roles in business development, marketing and partnership development. Roles that were once met with hesitance from candidates in big corporates and banks are now sought after as mindsets shift and the increasing want to work with new technologies that underpin the financial revolution.
Change Communications Roles Increase – As banks continuous to embark on their digital transformation journeys, they have realised the importance in cascading and communicating the positive changes to all levels of staff – hence an increasing amount of change communications roles have come about this year to assist with the digital transformation projects and create effective two way communication.
Regional Hub – Singapore remains the regional hub for a lot of marketing functions within companies. With the availability of digitally advanced candidates coupled with strong Asia wide experience – Singapore solidifies its standing as being the regional hub for MNC’s.
More Investment Into Singapore – Continuing on from the earlier point with regards to the growth in FinTech – with the recent news and unfortunate events in Hong Kong – an increasing amount of VC’s are shifting their funds and allocating it to grow their Singapore backed businesses as the country shows stable economic development and growth.
Steady Growth for 2020 – With the continuous investment in harnessing new technologies in the financial services realm – there seems to be no signs of slowing down in hiring for sales and marketing positions in 2020. A continuous rise is predicted in customer experience roles with a focus on data and analytics, in this digital booming industry.
