Head of PR & Communications

They are currently on the lookout for an outstanding Head of PR and Communications to lead their corporate engagement both internally and externally.

In this position you will get to lead a team to develop and drive strategic communications plans that advances their brand identity globally, reporting to the Chief Communications Officer with a dotted line to the CEO.

Key responsibilities

  • Set the strategic direction for all communications
  • Be the internal expert and go-to person for advice and support on PR activities
  • Brand Management – creating company brand awareness with appropriate strategies to increase the visibility of PR programs within the organization and to key stakeholders/Investors.
  • Ensure the Brand Manifesto and style guide is a live document, being shared with stakeholders and brought to life in the organization
  • Oversee the creation of the business’s digital and non-digital content ensuring that it is consistent with the brand e.g. website, newsletters, blogs, social media influencers, annual reports, and other marketing collateral materials, etc.
  • Manage the PR and Communications budget
  • Research and identify emerging issues that may impact on the business.
  • Involvement in strategic direction for new product launches and positioning
  • Act as the business spokesperson / point of contact in conventional media interactions e.g. newspaper interviews, ensuring a positive portrayal of the business at all times.
  • Brief internal spokespeople and source/provide media training to ensure they are better skilled to respond to media opportunities at a local and international level
  • Manage press relationships to ensure the coverage of the business programs, events, public announcements, among other projects.
  • Corporate Communications – plan and implement effective internal & external communication strategies to communicate company / brand values to employees, customers & stakeholders.
  • Manage the team and department of approximately 20 staff – setting the SOPs and KPIs, motivate, give direction, manage performance, hiring, training, retention, and development
  • Work with the HR department and management team to ensure that staff are effective brand ambassadors

Role requirements

  • Degree in PR, Communications, or related disciplines.
  • More than 10 years of PR experience including company brand management & corporate communications with a minimum of 3 years’ experience in Senior Manager / Director level.
  • Experienced in managing PR matters; regional or global experience is an added advantage
  • Proven experience of successfully raising an organization’s public profile; savvy in crisis communications, reputation management and CSR
  • Experience of developing, implementing, and delivering communication strategies
  • Good leadership skills, with a proven track record of managing teams
  • Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills with superior insights of corporate level PR, effective and confident communicator
