We are currently searching for an outstanding PR professional to lead an agency based in Malaysia, that is part of a global network. The Managing Director carries the responsibility for strategic direction and leadership, management of client programmes, new business development and financial management of the Malaysia office.

Key responsibilities

  • Play a leadership role in the management, direction, and growth of the business, in collaboration with the CEO and management team.
  • Enhance the reputation and awareness of the company as an integrated and socially savvy PR agency, emphasizing the agency’s new brand positioning and differentiation in the market.
  • Work collaboratively with the CEO to build appropriate growth pillars, especially social/KOL/influencer marketing, consumer, and technology PR verticals.
  • Be the primary relationship driver with senior level clients and recognized as a source of expertise and counsel in key client relationships.
  • Maintain a pulse on the economy at large as well as client-related industry trends.
  • Play a major role in initiating and contributing to new business development, advancing both new and organic growth.
  • Demonstrate an entrepreneurial approach to winning business.
  • Exhibit a high level of personal visibility in the client community, a strong leadership presence in the market and serve as an active brand ambassador via publication, presentations, and local business/industry outreach.
  • Recruit and develop quality account management and strategy experts dedicated to exemplary client service and domain expertise.
  • Own the P&L, establish and meet annual revenue and performance goals.

Role requirements

  • Outstanding English verbal and written communication skills – a strong writer and editor.
  • Ideally, speaks, reads, and writes Bahasa Malaysia.
  • Strong leadership, mentoring skills, and team-building ability.
  • Create a productive work environment for employees.
  • Ability to handle multiple assignments/projects.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Well versed in social media and the integration of digital marketing into the PR landscape.
  • Strong business acumen with a track record of retention and the profitable growth of existing accounts.
  • An excellent problem solver and decision maker.
  • Leverage opportunities for growth.
  • Minimum 16+ years of agency or other PR related experience, with several years in a leadership position.
  • Bachelors’ Degree in PR, Communications, or related disciplines; post graduate degree a plus.
