Head Of Legal

Our client is an exciting, fast-growing multinational business in media and entertainment. With global expansion plans underway, this Head of Legal position will work closely with the chief executive on realising their global objectives and targets, managing the risks and opportunities around its growth, and overseeing all potential litigation/disputes as they arise. With a small team reporting into this role, it is still crucial for this role to remain hands-on and agile to meet business demands.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to stakeholders across business units on general corporate matters, as well as draft, review, negotiate and advise on agreements
  • Manage and mitigate the company’s risk whilst maintaining a competitive business environment.
  • Develop and put in place policies and procedures around corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and business operations.
  • Manage external counsels, liaise with both internal stakeholders and external parties to ensure timely desired outcome.

Role requirements

  • Ideally with 15 years PQE and legal and compliance experience gained through private practice and in-house roles
  • Background in corporate and transactional work, and capital markets and preferably experience in M&A and IPO
  • Litigation/Disputes experience would be advantageous
  • Excellent communication skills; highly proficient in both oral and written English, ability to speak, read and write Chinese for correspondence with Chinese market is advantageous
  • An ability to balance legal risk and business needs. Comfortable with ambiguity and change, unruffled by uncertainty.
