Regional Cost Management Controller – VP

Our client is a well-established International Bank who have operations across Retail, Wholesale and Asset Management, who have a strong presence in Singapore.  They are looking for a Regional Cost Management Controller.

This role will set within the Cost Management & Analytics team, looking at cost control and analysis across the Asia ex-Japan region. This role requires the candidate to provide detailed analysis and reporting of regional cost base and cost initiatives to senior management/key stakeholders across the business, as well as owning advisory of the Corporate cost base.

Key responsibilities

  • Management reporting and analytical review of the regional cost base, providing full and timely management reporting, insight and analysis to key stakeholders across front and back office.
  • Supervising off-shore support function to ensure correct booking of and accounting of cost related matters (non-personnel expenses), as well as understand knowledge of cost components and drivers to advise key stakeholders of cost drivers and initiatives.
  • Co-ordinating on budgeting and forecasting process, working closely with stakeholders including IT Finance to achieve corporate cost management.
  • Assisting with all corporate indirect allocations to front office business and cross border to other regions.
  • Deep-dive analysis on non-personnel expenses spend/trending, understanding drivers to facilitate business decision making.
  • Involvement in global project initiatives around MI reporting processes and analytics

Role requirements

  • University graduate, ideally with recognized accounting qualification (CA, CPA etc), with management accounting and performance management background – with a strong understanding of, and experience of, driving cost control initiatives.
  • Previous experience in banking, financial services or consulting background.
  • Strong analytical/quantitative skillset
  • Proficient Excel user, whilst prior use of MIS tools such as Essbase, Qlikview, Tableau, Power BI or Alteryx would be an advantage but not essential
