Key responsibilities
- Hands on lead of a team of data scientists building solutions and products for Legal and Compliance Division
- Act as a product owner to help build a road map and implement it
- Working with members of the Financial Crimes, Compliance, Legal and IT departments to identify, assess and manage risk by evaluating large data sets using various statistical tools.
- Development of risk models leveraging Machine learning and related quantitative techniques to improve surveillance and compliance monitoring and testing activities
- Developing and enhancing statistical methodologies and quantitative models to drive efficiency.
- Supporting periodic risk assessments through the analysis of data elements related to potential indicators of customer, product or geographic risk and identification of new quantitative factors that can be incorporated into the risk assessment process
- Assisting in the creation of key risk and performance indicators in support of the oversight, monitoring and testing program.
- Develop Data & Analytics talent in collaboration with the management team.
Role requirements
Skills required (essential)
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree from premier institutes in mathematics, statistics, physics, computational finance, computer science or other quantitative fields
- Experience in advanced statistical analysis techniques including multi-variable data analysis and predictive modeling techniques. Hands-on and theoretical knowledge of various Machine Learning algorithms and tools, e.g., XGBoost/LightGBM, Random Forests, support vector machines (SVMs), PCA, K-means, DBSCAN, etc.
- Extensive experience using Python for statistical analysis and modeling. Experience in PySpark is a plus
- Well-versed in writing efficient, scalable and production quality code and understanding of programming best practices
- Strong problem solving and project management skills with the ability to work independently and multi-task to meet deadlines in a rapidly changing environment.
- Ability to work with global, cross-functional teams
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
Skills Desired
- An understanding of financial markets, and banking, including retail and/or broker-dealer product knowledge
- Experience in Distributed Computing & Cloud technologies (Hadoop, MapReduce, Spark, Scala, Databricks, SparQL or other related technologies) to analyze and process large data sets and writing scalable and efficient code
- Strong SQL knowledge with experience in writing complex queries
- Experience in leveraging AI and ML frameworks/tools like TensorFlow, Keras, H2O or Data Robot.
- Expertise with Time Series problems is a plus.
- Experience developing controls for Compliance, market manipulation and/or money laundering risks.
- Understanding of programming best practices and SDLC/ Model Ops processes.
