Chief Innovation Officer

Our client is a pioneering and established provider of social media influencer marketing solutions. The Company provides its diverse client base of leading brands with results focused growth strategies backed by end-to-end expertise spanning Influencer Marketing, Social Media Marketing, Performance Marketing, Video and Content Creation and Social Commerce. Listed on the Australian Securities Exchange and based primarily in Malaysia, they also have presence in Taiwan and Singapore, and have a strategy to expand across the SEA region and are focused on building a centralized technology platform incorporating data and insights for influencers throughout the region with innovative social commerce, fintech and Web 3.0 capabilities.

With this, they are looking for a Chief Innovation Officer (CIO) to build and grow the innovation capabilities of the company. In this role, you will work closely with the Senior Management Team to translate their corporate vision into the innovation strategy and to align the innovation goals with the company’s broader business objectives. The CIO will conceptualize new products and services, enhance existing products, and build an inclusive culture of innovation in the company. You will actively identify key areas and objectives for innovative transformation projects, develop plans to implement these projects according to varying timelines, and manage these innovation projects from conception to execution. You will create a competitive edge for these projects, turn them into business opportunities and ventures, and be responsible for the profit & loss of these ventures.

Key responsibilities

  • Build and develop an innovation strategy that is understood and endorsed by key stakeholders including the senior leadership team, employees, clients, partners, investors, and the influencer community.
  • Create an innovation roadmap to drive growth.
  • Ensure the innovation goals are aligned with the company’s business objectives.
  • Establish clear processes for generating ideas, creating MVPs, producing them, and achieving product-market fit.
  • Manage the innovation process and projects from inception to completion whilst working across multiple projects with varying timelines.
  • Ensure the company is successful in taking the innovations to market in a timely and scalable manner, drive usage of the projects and drive the profit and loss of the ventures.
  • Build connections with internal and external stakeholders to identify areas of growth, and to drive collaborative change.
  • Use innovation to differentiate the company in the market, provide unique value to and help build long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Evangelize innovation so the company is viewed as innovative, visionary and a market leader by clients, partners, influencer community, industry groups, media, and investors.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, or related field.
  • 8 to 12 years’ experience in IT, technology, business, marketing, or finance-related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in a management position.
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of business, technology, and Web 3.0 concepts.
  • Must be familiar with the company’s industry and with social media platforms especially Facebook, Instagram, TikTok.
  • A solid understanding of innovation and how it should be applied in business.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to persuasively sell ideas.
  • Must be willing to take calculated risks and manage expectations of both internal and external stakeholders.
  • Forward-thinking and adaptable to dynamic situations.
  • Superior research and analytical skills to track and predict trends.
  • Excellent project management and time management skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, leadership and communication skills with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders across the company.
