Director of Marketing, Asia

Our client is a leading global EdTech company, partnering with the world’s leading educators to develop, design, and deliver the most career-relevant online education solutions that meet the needs of the future of work and help solve global social and economic challenge.

They have recently established their presence in Asia and are on the lookout for a Director of Marketing to drive the next phase of growth in Asia, working in partnership with the Executive Director, senior leaders, and the Asia focused team. Asia is an important new growth market for them and requires an entrepreneurial leader to lead and execute innovative student-insight led marketing strategies. The role will lead and build out the Asia Marketing team. This is a highly visible, consumer focused and performance-driven role for an experienced senior marketer who can influence and drive change in the Asia market.

Key responsibilities

  • Leader responsible for building and driving innovative new marketing growth strategies to deliver overall performance outcomes for our initial 2 key partners in the region.
  • Accountable for marketing investment, pitching for investment and making trade-offs including overseeing budget management.
  • Have a deep understanding of customer needs, preferences & behaviors to develop compelling value propositions and go-to-market strategies (short to medium term strategies) to deliver revenue growth, positive student experiences and employee engagement.
  • Have a strategic mindset, contributing to the evaluation of the market and identifying business development opportunities to support broader business (ie. Sales/Student Operations, Product and CX).
  • Proactively bring customer insights, thought leadership and innovation into the business.
  • Actively use the right data & insights to contribute to data driven decision making and driving in-market optimizations and a test and learn culture.
  • Be a key advocate for reporting on Asia market performance, evaluating key performance metrics, accurate summaries and analysis of activities, results, and forecasts.
  • Ensure continual process improvements are identified to move toward best practice levels by collaborating closely with internal stakeholders to prioritize and deliver optimal outcomes.
  • Maintain effective communication and collaborative relationships with people leader, cross-functional teams, partners, and agencies.
  • Drive engagement, provide feedback and coach others through a people-first approach to leadership.
  • Manage compliance to quality and process standards.

Role requirements

  • In addition to a degree in a relevant area, and 10+ years’ experience in product/marketing leadership roles in dynamic fast-paced organizations, the successful candidate will demonstrate exceptional capability in the following areas:
  • Leadership experience – Senior commercially focused leader, with a background in a corporate, professional services, technology, education, financial services, or similar environment, with a sound understanding of strategic marketing and product portfolio development and an ability to lead, coach and develop a high performing team.
  • Relationship management and influencing skills – An emotionally intelligent and driven people leader with highly effective communication skills and the ability to build and maintain rapport and effective relationships with key internal and external stakeholders. A demonstrated commitment to delivering exceptional service levels and quality outcomes to partners.
  • Customer centricity – A key champion for deeply understanding student segments and how to create compelling market customer value propositions to meet their needs across the full student journey.
  • Strategic mindset – Experience creating a vision and leading student-insight led marketing strategy. Demonstrated ability to lead teams cross-functionally to deliver on plans with willingness to work ‘hand on’ with the team to execute plans.
