E-Commerce Manager

The E-Commerce Manager is responsible for working with the E-Commerce team to ensure that all key accounts managed by him/her. Role is based in Malaysia.

Key responsibilities

  • Provide Strategic Leadership-
    • Uncover/understand client objectives, challenges and needs in order to actively participate in long range strategic planning for client across both ecommerce media planning, shopping ads, biddable and onsite ads in the marketplace space.
    • Demonstrate thought leadership with clients by developing and presenting client industry/market research findings, eCommerce trends, eCommerce growth areas, new models to consider and case studies.
    • Work with vendors and internal resources at OMG and the OMG network to further develop eCommerce.
    • Develop commercial agreements, drive efficiencies and to show strong ROAS within the ecommerce space.
  • Deliver on eCommerce Scope of Work-
    • Develop the scope of work, the commercial agreements and manage the profitability of the eCommerce function in terms of ROAS.
    • With the team, ensure all deliverables within the eCommerce SOW in place with the client are completed.
    • Develop a three year plan and accelerate strategy for growing business.
    • Ensure SOW included display, paid, performance, organic, content, CRO, insights, data, shopper merchandise and media.
  • Deliverables include but are not limited to-
    • Global eCommerce strategy development at multiple levels: Overall, by category, by brand and by product (viewing product AOV, profitability, logistics and fulfillment elements if required).
    • Develop go to market strategy for eCommerce.
    • Develop all frameworks and ways of working.
    • eCommerce education across the client.
    • Managing expectations and growing product offering through out-of-scope work.
    • Work with teams to develop “always on” approach to improve the campaigns.
    • Work with the teams to leverage total ecommerce media budget to drive efficiencies online.
    • Develop reporting module to show positive ROAS.
    • Co-op paid search guidelines, developed with the Head of Performance.
    • Working with the SEO team to develop actual content for use on eCommerce partner sites.
    • Additional initiatives as deemed necessary to further eCommerce within the client’s organization; proactivity and initiative are absolutely necessary!
  • Ensure Client Satisfaction-
    • Establish/grow senior relationships with client, specifically the internal eCommerce team and Marketing leadership.
    • Mentor team, ensuring soft and hard skills development.
    • Lead senior level client meetings and attend regular client status meetings as appropriate.
    • Establish and maintain a management framework that allows for visibility into account team performance on client(s).
    • Ensure holistic ecommerce media strategies produced for brands.
  • Grow Existing Business-
    • Identify and allocate resources to allow for both meeting the client’s current needs and investing for growth.
    • Identify, develop, present and transition new client opportunities that exist within the OMG network (upselling to our sister agencies).
    • Support local offices in developing eCommerce scopes of work for local client brands.
  • Manage Team-
    • Lead, retain, and recruit (as needed) a best-in-market eCommerce media and shopper team.
    • Foster a culture which enables sharing, innovation, and pro-activeness.
    • Lead channel training to both key ecom champions, planning teams and wider agency stakeholders.
    • Ensure the team delivers on the defined SOW, pushing back as necessary.

Role requirements

  • 7+ years’ experience in eCommerce at either a digital agency or client-side.
  • Deep understanding of marketplaces such as Shopee, Lazada and Zalora.
  • Tertiary qualified.
  • Be a proactive self-starter.
  • Can do attitude.
  • Driven, determined.
  • Experience managing paid media projects to enhance eCommerce performance.
  • Strong presentation skills.
  • Ideal: Experience managing paid search co-ops with retail or manufacturer partners.
  • Enjoy educating clients about how optimizing search can drive eCommerce efforts.
  • Be ambitious, driven and passionate about all thing’s eCommerce, with an excellent comprehension of how search serves as the backbone of online purchases.
  • Have a clear vision for the future and relate this into defining product and operational structures.
  • Possess general knowledge of direct and brand marketing principles and strategies.
  • Have an adaptive style in being able to communicate often technical ideas in simple terms.
  • Good negotiating skills and strong with excel and numbers.
  • Have strong organizational skills, being able to manage multiple projects at once.
  • International travel will be required.
