Finance Manager / Controller (Freight)

Partnering a Global Infrastructure & Logistics based MNC to fill in a newly created Manager/Controller role in freight, trade finance & reporting functions. The role is supported by a shared services team and acts as a great opportunity for Deputy/Managers, Finance who are looking to progress in their career and further develop hands on finance skills in corporate finance, reporting, audit, tax and treasury management.

Key responsibilities

  • Manage overall financial accounting and management reporting for the freight SBU including preparation of quarterly and year end consolidation to audit, tax and treasury management.
  • Oversee and review deliverables by the global logistics team and lead the month-end closing process to ensure reporting timelines are met.
  • Streamline and drive the automation of finance and accounting tasks and functions.
  • Track and monitor trade and operational metrics and reports.
  • Drive the enhancement of Softmar (software solutions) front system along with IT support to cater to new business requirements, enhance and build the software’s dashboard and share data reports and analysis as required by the chartering and operations team.
  • Drive the annual budgeting cycle and develop plans for budget and forecast.
  • Monitor and analyze overhead expenditures and any variances against budget.
  • Monitor, analyze and optimize overall working capital and margin money utilization.
  • Monitor and strengthen existing internal controls and improve current processes.
  • Participate in strategic analysis of trade deal opportunities and evaluate financial returns and balance sheet requirements.
  • Liaise and assist with requirements by external and internal auditors as well as internal corporate functions.

Role requirements

  • Degree in Accountancy/Finance and/or relevant qualifications (CA/CPA).
  • Min 8 years’ experience & above in trade/corporate diverse finance roles driving budgeting, reporting preferably from global freight transportation/bulk shipping &/ logistics related MNCs.
  • Possess good international business acumen with strong analytical skills.
  • Good team player, meticulous, and possess strong interpersonal communication skills.
