Media Planning Director

We are currently working on a Media Planning Director position with a well- known Media Agency. The purpose of this role is to lead a team of media planners and ensure that best practice is adhered to in their day-to-day roles and to provide leadership to the team. The planning director would develop close client relationships through strategic direction and deliver winning media solutions for its customer base.

Key responsibilities

  • To be the primary day-to-day contact for clients and to drive client strategy ensuring the agency provides a lead role in communications planning.
  • To drive business growth through existing clients, developing proactive action plans and product propositions continuously that takes into consideration market change dynamics across time.
  • Work with the Business Director on new business leads which include new potential clients and new opportunities from existing clients.
  • To deliver against agreed account plan and budget for all clients.
  • Direct team members to ensure appropriate campaigns & programs are executed appropriately.
  • Ensure team ownership with Managers and support staff.
  • Keep abreast of internal and external factors that may impact the client’s business.
  • Initiate brainstorms to develop strategic direction of accounts.
  • Responsible to ensure client’s contractual obligations for media KPIs is met.
  • Develop a deep understanding of client’s business beyond media and has a clear understanding of business implications.
  • Monitor clear and accurate budget & contract forecasting for all clients.
  • Monitor and review the planning process and skills of planning team to ensure clients receive the best service.
  • Contribute to client marketing strategy and thinking.
  • Organize reviews of accounts and work with Business Director to implement outcomes.
  • Organize client appraisal sessions and action plan that lead to implementation outcomes.
  • Responsibility in helping to develop and present new business pitches with the Business Director.

Role requirements

  • Understands client’s requirements and able to develop a vision which will form the basis of their overall communications plan.
  • Skilled at developing and promoting a compelling communication strategy, media planning and business outcome driven proposition for and within their client’s brands and market.
  • Capable of engaging clients and prospects in a credible and influential way. Has high-level consultancy skills.
  • Account management skills, including the ability to upsell added-value solutions, develop new revenue streams.
  • Must be able to work effectively with media partners, creative agencies, web development, activation agencies and more.
  • Delivery focused ensures that all elements of the plan are in line with the overall media strategy.
  • Mentoring and training managers and planners to develop their skills in the planning area.
