Business Monitoring Manager (Private Bank)

Our client is a European private bank with a strong presence in Singapore and Europe. They are looking for an experienced Business Monitoring Manager to join their team. This First Line (1LoD) function will ensure that activities performed by the client-facing Front Office comply with the regulatory requirements and bank policies. The team will provide quality assurance of the sales and advisory activities to protect the business from financial, regulatory and reputational risk.

Key responsibilities

  • Have over 7 years of banking experience, at least 4 years with a private bank
  • Has a university degree in business/finance/accounting or equivalent
  • Has hands on experience covering oversight & monitoring regarding front office business operations processes within private banking
  • Investment Suitability: perform post-trade surveillance to ensure adherence to the Suitability framework
  • Pricing & Fee Disclosures: ensure adherence to client pricing arrangements
  • Independent Validation: review voice logs/emails/call reports to ensure adherence to relevant procedures for- Payments, Management of Dormant accounts, Handling of client data/bank statements, Management of accounts with suppression of physical mail
  • Culture & Conduct: managing issues appropriately to ensure organisational values and desired employee behaviour
  • Policies: Perform regular reviews to establish appropriate frameworks, policies, processes and systems
  • Represent the Front Office in operational / regulatory initiatives or projects
  • Manage Client Complaints, Operational Events and Audits
  • Lead investigations for complaints and operational errors, perform root cause analysis and address gaps to ensure a stable operating environment.
  • Coordinate with stakeholders on internal and external audits
  • Provide training on the Suitability and Pricing frameworks
  • Utilise effective and motivational people management & engagement skills to ensure adherence to processes and controls

Role requirements

  • Have over 7 years of banking experience, at least 4 years with a private bank
  • Has a university degree in business/finance/accounting or equivalent
  • Has forensic capabilities to examine, analyze and interpret information, ensure effectiveness of governance & control framework.
  • Has a good grasp of front office risk (private banking) management principles and tools.
  • Has a strong understanding of regulatory requirements and business processes, and associated controls within financial institutions, preferably within Private Banking
