Product Head – NRI Banking/Retail Banking

Our client is a renowned Indian bank, which offers a broad range of banking and financial services, catering to both individual and business customers. These services include savings and current accounts, fixed deposits, personal loans, home loans, business loans, credit cards, and other retail banking products. Additionally, they provide wealth management and investment services. It also offers digital banking solutions through its website and mobile app, enabling customers to access banking services and perform transactions online.

They have a network of branches and ATMs across India to serve its customers. They work towards bringing banking services to underserved and rural areas in India, thereby contributing to financial inclusion efforts in the country.

They are scouting for a Product Head for their NRI Business who will focus on customer acquisition, quality of customers, activation and cross-sell and overall portfolio growth.

Key responsibilities

  • Own the overall product and strategy for achieving NRI Business growth numbers.
  • Lead and manage the Product and Strategy team to deliver on business objectives.
  • Design, build and continuous improvement of best-in-class DIY onboarding journey.
  • Own the NR product offering and define its value proposition and GTM.
  • Disrupt the thinking on NR value proposition by conducting ethnographic research on target base and building truly differentiated offering.
  • Act as a NR product expert for the Bank and its Leadership.
  • Ensure adherence to all internal and regulatory requirements and reporting.
  • Developing the best-in-class product features and value proposition for the Non-resident Indian customer.
  • Continuous assessment of acquisition funnel, identifying and prioritizing initiatives by business impact and execute the end-to-end product strategy from inception.
  • Collaborate with Channel, digital, Engineering, Applications, and other stakeholders to build and run acquisition journeys that deliver business objectives.
  • Lead conversion rate optimization on the acquisition journeys to increase customer acquisition.
  • Work with different bank functional teams to acquire NRI customers from their base.
  • Design and optimize the account opening flow and processes at bank to improve TAT and first-time-right ratio.
  • Define and build activation journeys and metrics, track meticulously and continuously improve to drive activation and cross-sell.
  • Champion the adoption of high-quality market intelligence and data analytics to promote product, solution, and sales effectiveness in line with the bank’s growth / profitability objectives.
  • Consistently analyze the non-resident customer portfolio and derive insights on its health and performance across channels, segments, geographies, etc.
  • Develop and execute strategies for portfolio growth by closely collaborating with Channel, Field, Operations, Digital, Engineering, and other stakeholders.
  • Assess trends and customer behavior using analytics to identify, analyze and implement new innovations.
  • Build products and process for delivering a world-class experience to NRI customers.
  • Ensure high service availability and turnaround times for all portfolio related processes and systems.
  • Empower channel and field teams with intelligence and tools to enhance their portfolio management capabilities.

Secondary responsibilities may include:

  • Oversee the successful adoption and internal compliances & regulatory framework.
  • Recommend improvements to processes and policies across the NRI business to drive operational efficiencies and high-quality customer service.
  • Ensure 360-degree product/solution support to the branch/call Centre channels on systems, processes & policies.
  • Keep abreast with market trends and competitor practices with regards to marketing initiatives, strategic campaigns and customer facing technologies.
  • Incorporate customer & business feedback into acquisition strategy, effectively negotiating tradeoffs & conflicting priorities.

Role requirements

  • 15+ years of progressive experience, with 8+ in a leadership position in Retail Banking, exposure to NRI business and leadership position in NRI Product for 4+ years preferred.
  • Strong work ethic with a high sense of goal execution and results orientation.
  • Strong strategy leadership skills.
  • MBA from Tier 1/2 institutes with specialization in Finance or Sales and Marketing.
