People (HR) Director

Our client is the parent company of leading global consumer brands and has more than 18 million customers worldwide. They are a FTSE 100 company and global leader in their business.

They are on the lookout for a People Director who will play a critical role in working with the shared capability center leadership team to enable the successful stand up and growth of the center. He/she will be responsible for leading the capability Centre’s people function providing strategic and operational services to deliver the people strategy, aligned with the group’s ambition to become an employer of choice.

The ideal candidate would be someone with proven experience in HR leadership roles, in global capability centers. Prior experience of working across different geographies and cultures and tailoring the delivery of the people strategy would stand out.

Important:

Human resource leaders with 15+ years of overall experience and a background in setting up GCCs/GICs/shared capability centers are encouraged to apply.

Key responsibilities

  • Collaborating with the Group Chief People Officer and leadership team to define and align people strategy across all Group hubs.
  • Partnering with Group COEs for key initiatives like succession planning and employee engagement.
  • Acting as a strategic partner to the shared capability center General Manager and senior leadership team, providing advice on people issues.
  • Coaching and mentoring the senior leadership team on people, engagement, and performance empowerment.
  • Partnering with leaders to identify critical roles and talent, ensuring plans for growth and retention.
  • Providing strong leadership to a multi-disciplinary team of 20+, focusing on the overall development of the people function.
  • Driving the end-to-end employee lifecycle and implementation of local benefits and HR policies.
  • Champion diversity, equality, and inclusion in People policies and procedures.
  • Leading HR team to improve critical people metrics like recruitment, retention, engagement, and learning and development.
  • Collaborating with legal and compliance teams to manage HR-related risks and employee relations.
  • Cultivating a highly engaged workforce and maintain the employee value proposition aligned with market trends.
  • Driving a unified organizational culture across all divisions on-site.
  • Owning the shared capability center talent acquisition function, positioning it as an employer of choice.
  • Forecasting and preparing for future hiring needs, updating and maintaining the recruitment strategy.
  • Delivering people-related initiatives and projects, ensuring senior stakeholder buy-in.
  • Leveraging HR data for insights on workforce planning, talent metrics, and HR KPIs.
  • Efficiently managing annual HR department budgets and contribute to decisions on country budgets and costs.

Role requirements

  • An MBA in HR, PGDM, or Ph.D. with HR specialization, preferably from renowned institutes.
  • A professional human resource certification is considered an asset.
  • Proven HR leadership experience of 15+ years, preferably in setting up GCCs/GIC/shared capability center from ground up.
  • Strong knowledge of HR practices, employment laws, and regulations is essential.
  • The ability to work across diverse geographies and cultures, tailoring People strategy delivery accordingly.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic workforce planning.
  • Strong background in change management and project management, with a track record of success in strategic HR projects.
  • Established people management and leadership experience, contributing to a high-performance culture.
  • Exceptional strategist with robust organizational skills, adept at scaling for growth.
  • Extensive business and commercial acumen.
  • Established as a strategic HR business partner and proficient problem solver.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, communicating effectively across all levels.
  • Capability of working autonomously, showcasing independence and self-reliance.
