APAC Legal counsel/ sole counsel

Our client is an European MNC in the chemical sector. This position will be based in Singapore office, reporting directly to the General Counsel based in Europe, and will form part of the global Legal and Compliance function. It presents an excellent opportunity for a qualified lawyer seeking a dynamic and varied in-house role within a fast-paced and evolving organisation.

The primary focus of the role will be to support Asia-Pacific (APAC) region, including a key business unit headquartered in Singapore. You will work closely with internal business and functional teams, as well as with external counsel and advisors, to provide legal support across a range of jurisdictions, including SEA, China, and B

Key responsibilities

  • Providing legal support on a wide range of commercial and maritime contracts
  • Advising on dispute resolution, regulatory matters, and corporate governance
  • Supporting M&A projects and other strategic transactions
  • Assisting with group governance and company secretarial matters
  • Drafting and preparing materials for board and committee meetings
  • Collaborating with regional and global teams to ensure compliance and manage legal risk
  • Overseas travelling to be expected and approximates 10-15%

Role requirements

  • Qualified lawyer with a minimum of 5 years’ post-qualification experience, ideally gained in a combination of private practice and in-house roles
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to provide pragmatic, solution-oriented legal advice
  • Experience in cross-border matters and working with diverse regional teams
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
