Director – SAP Technology (Corporate Applications)

Our client is a leading US-headquartered healthcare manufacturer and distributor, operating one of the largest global product portfolios in its sector and supported by a mature 1,000+ person technology and business services capability centre in Pune. As part of the continued build-out of its enterprise SAP landscape, they are seeking a Director – SAP Technology to provide overall direction, strategy and delivery leadership across their Corporate Applications estate, aligned to the Finance and Revenue side of the business.

 

Reporting into senior IT leadership and partnering directly with US-based stakeholders, this is a strategic leadership seat with full ownership of the SAP application lifecycle – implementation, feature development, change management, maintenance and product support – delivered through large, offshore-led teams in a global matrix organisation.

Key responsibilities

  • Providing overall direction and integration across multiple SAP technology and project-delivery services, with full ownership of the application lifecycle – support, feature development, maintenance and product support.
  • Occupying a strategic seat, partnering with business stakeholders to shape a common vision and IT strategy, and making strategic decisions on the technology direction of the estate.
  • Leading and managing large SAP teams (typically 100+) aligned to the Finance and Revenue domain, developing managers into independent performers through coaching and mentoring.
  • Owning implementation and change management across a large and diverse SAP landscape (ERP, S/4HANA, and related point solutions).
  • Influencing and building trusted relationships with US-based stakeholders, translating business strategy into delivery outcomes across a global, matrixed operating model.
  • Driving delivery excellence, process improvement, automation and innovation, and overseeing organizational development, talent planning and succession across reporting teams.

Role requirements

  • 18–20 years of technology delivery experience, with extensive time spent leading and managing SAP teams aligned to the Finance and Revenue domain.
  • A career started in a consulting organisation (such as Accenture, Cognizant or equivalent) with a subsequent move into a Global Capability Centre (GCC) / captive set-up.
  • A proven track record of managing teams of 100+ across support, development and maintenance functions.
  • Experience operating in a strategic decision-making seat, owning end-to-end application lifecycle management rather than executing within another leader’s mandate.
  • Demonstrable experience of implementation and change management across large SAP landscapes, ideally including S/4HANA.
  • Strong experience working within a matrix organisation and influencing senior US stakeholders.
  • Exposure to the Finance / Revenue domain within the supply-chain side of the business is strongly preferred.
