Finance Controller

Our client is a well-established European multinational with a global footprint in the building systems and industrial manufacturing sector. The business specialises in engineered solutions used in commercial infrastructure and large-scale construction projects worldwide. The Malaysia manufacturing facility plays a key role in supporting regional and export operations across multiple markets. Due to ongoing business requirements, they are strengthening their finance team with a senior finance professional.

This is a senior finance leadership role overseeing the finance function for the Malaysia entity, with additional regional reporting exposure across Malaysia and Australia. The role focuses on management reporting, financial reporting, budgeting, forecasting, statutory compliance, and business partnering within a lean manufacturing environment.

The successful candidate will act as the key finance lead, responsible for reviewing, finalising, and ensuring accuracy of financial reporting while supporting operational and strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage the full finance function for the Malaysia manufacturing entity
  • Review and finalise monthly management accounts, financial statements, and reporting packs
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning activities across the business
  • Analyse financial performance and provide insights to support business decisions and cost optimisation
  • Partner closely with operations and management teams to drive performance improvement
  • Manage statutory reporting, tax compliance, and transfer pricing requirements
  • Ensure strong financial controls, governance, and compliance with internal policies
  • Oversee business licensing, regulatory renewals, and audit requirements
  • Coordinate regional reporting for multiple entities across APAC (including Australia)
  • Support cash flow management and working capital monitoring
  • Oversee ERP system processes (SAP or equivalent) and reporting integrity
  • Support ad-hoc financial analysis and regional finance initiatives

Role requirements

  • Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline; professional qualification preferred (ACCA / CPA / CIMA or equivalent)
  • 10–12 years of finance and accounting experience, ideally in manufacturing or multinational environments
  • Strong experience in financial reporting, management reporting, budgeting, and forecasting
  • Exposure to tax, statutory compliance, and transfer pricing
  • Experience working in lean, hands-on finance environments
  • Strong stakeholder management and business partnering skills
  • ERP system experience (SAP preferred)
  • Independent, detail-oriented, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
