Global Audit Director

Our client is a prominent and reputable MNC in the manufacturing industry. There is now a need for the business to hire a proven leader as their Audit Director to be part of their APAC audit team and support their audit operations both locally and across the region.

Reporting to the Global Audit Director in the US, you will be responsible for overseeing the internal audit function of the regional organization, ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and reliability of financial and operational processes. This role involves leading a team of audit professionals, developing audit strategies, managing risk assessments, and ensuring compliance with regulations. The Director of Audit works closely with senior management to evaluate the effectiveness of internal controls and provide insights to improve overall business performance.

Key responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management:
    • Lead, mentor, and develop the internal audit team.
    • Oversee the planning, execution, and completion of internal audits across all business units.
    • Ensure audits are completed in line with professional standards and best practices.
    • Communicate audit findings and recommendations to senior management and the audit committee.
  • Audit Strategy:
    • Develop and implement a comprehensive audit plan based on risk assessments.
    • Continuously assess audit strategies and methodologies for efficiency and effectiveness.
    • Ensure alignment of audit objectives with organizational goals and regulatory requirements.
  • Risk Management:
    • Identify key risk areas and ensure they are appropriately assessed and monitored.
    • Provide recommendations for risk mitigation and improvements in internal controls.
    • Collaborate with departments to ensure compliance with corporate policies and external regulations.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Oversight:
    • Monitor compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and internal policies.
    • Stay current on changes in regulatory environments and update audit programs accordingly.
    • Assist with the preparation for external audits and regulatory inspections.
  • Reporting:
    • Present audit findings, risk assessments, and recommendations to the Board, senior leadership, and relevant stakeholders.
    • Prepare comprehensive audit reports, including detailed action plans for remediation.
    • Track the implementation of audit recommendations and improvements.
  • Continuous Improvement:
    • Evaluate and enhance the internal audit process, including tools and techniques for more effective auditing.
    • Keep up to date with trends and advancements in audit processes, technologies, and regulatory changes.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • CPA, CIA, or other relevant certifications (preferred).
  • Minimum 10 years of experience in internal audit, external audit, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in leading an audit function within a complex organization, ideally with Sales & Trading as well as Manufacturing Cycles
  • Strong understanding of risk management, internal controls, and corporate governance principles.
  • Experience with regulatory requirements and compliance standards (SOX, GAAP, etc.).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact with all levels of management.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
  • High ethical standards and attention to detail.
