Head Insurance Accounting

The Reporting Production Lead will head the financial reporting team responsible for producing financial statements for a Global Insurance organisation in Mumbai.

 

This role encompasses oversight of financial, statutory, and regulatory reporting. The ideal candidate is a qualified accountant with extensive experience in IFRS and UK GAAP, with a strong background in the insurance sector and knowledge of Solvency II and with-profits business.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee the Reporting Production team, ensuring compliance with UK GAAP, IFRS, and Solvency II standards.
  • Manage the production of financial results and statutory accounts for regulated insurance entities, ensuring accuracy and adherence to reporting requirements.
  • Control ledger postings, including actuarial liabilities, IFRS 17 results, and tax, while collaborating with various internal teams.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timely delivery of financial results, including regulatory returns and IFRS Group contributions.
  • Maintain the end-to-end control framework for the insurance balance sheet and income statement, ensuring internal controls are effective and compliant with regulatory standards.
  • Provide insightful financial reporting and commentary to support business growth initiatives.
  • Lead and support process enhancements and ensure audit readiness by managing interactions with external auditors.
  • Develop and mentor the reporting team, ensuring members possess the required skills and experience to support business needs.

 

Stakeholder Management

  • Internal: Reporting Analysis team, Balance Sheet Accounting team, Technical & Statutory Reporting team, Actuarial Modelling and Valuations, Group Reporting team, Change team, Internal Audit, Finance Technology, and Tax teams.
  • External: External auditors and relevant regulators.

Role requirements

  • Education: Chartered Accountant (CA) or equivalent with significant post-qualification experience.

 

Knowledge:

  • Expertise in IFRS, UK GAAP, and regulatory requirements for Solvency II.
  • Familiarity with financial risks, governance, and control environments within the insurance sector.

 

Experience:

  • Proven track record of managing financial reporting for insurance, preferably Life Insurance.
  • Experience leading finance teams in large, complex organizations.
  • Ability to handle multiple responsibilities while ensuring the quality and timeliness of reporting.
