Key responsibilities

  • Lead the startup of a new payment team within the Global Capability Centre.
  • Lead the end-to-end development lifecycle of payment platforms, including architecture, design, development, testing, and deployment.
  • Collaborate with global and regional stakeholders to define technical requirements and ensure alignment with business goals.
  • Oversee the integration of payment systems with core banking platforms and third-party services.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory standards, security protocols, and internal governance frameworks.
  • Drive agile development practices and DevOps adoption across the team.
  • Mentor and manage a team of developers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Stay abreast of emerging technologies in digital payments, APIs, cloud-native development, and real-time processing.
  • Ensure comprehensive oversight, managing develop/ deploy/ operation including app support.

Role requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field. Ensure comprehensive oversight, managing develop/ deploy/ operate phase.
  • 20+ years of experience in software development, with at least 15 years in the banking/payments domain.
  • Proven experience in leading development teams and delivering complex payment solutions.
  • Strong knowledge of payment protocols (SWIFT, ISO 20022, UPI, RTGS, NEFT, etc.) and Techno-functional understanding of products from IFTAS (NEFT/ RTGS) and NPCI (IMPS, UPI, NACH, BBPS, etc.).
  • Running of Payment Aggregators, Payment Gateways, and Payment Service Providers.
  • Good understanding of Fraud Prevention, AML laws and Data Privacy, Data Protection, & Localization laws.
  • Hands-on experience with payment software packages such as Oracle Payments and Temenos Payments Hub.
  • Extensive expertise in both low and high-value payment clearing schemes, with a particular focus on international cross-border payments, ensuring efficient and accurate transaction processing.
  • Proficient in utilizing SWIFT for cross-border payments, including detailed familiarity with MT message types, facilitating smooth and standardized communication between financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in Java, .NET, microservices architecture, and cloud platforms (AWS/Azure).
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps tools.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
