An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced legal counsel to join an established legal team as Head of Trade Finance Legal, based in Singapore. This pivotal role involves delivering high-caliber legal support, strategic advice, and guidance to the Trade Finance business in Singapore and across the broader Asia-Pacific region.

Key responsibilities

  • Support the legal matters across various products including Structured Trade Finance, Receivables Finance and Supply Chain Finance.
  • Manage transactional legal matters on strategic projects and initiatives, and ensuring effective legal risk management across the trade finance business.
  • Work closely with internal business units such as compliance, risk management, credit, and operations teams to ensure transactions are legally compliant and commercially viable.
  • Manage relationships with external legal counsel to ensure high-quality and cost-effective legal support.
  • Oversee drafting, negotiating, and reviewing a wide range of legal documents, including financing terms, non-disclosure agreements, engagement letters, mandates, pitch materials, term sheets, financing agreements, legal opinions, etc.

Role requirements

  • A relevant degree in Law and banking & finance qualified lawyer
  • 15+ PQE and majority of which with trade finance experiecne
  • Experience from both in-house and/or international law firm
  • Familiarity with trade finance products and related cross border financing documents
  • Proficiency in English is a must, Chinese a plus
